June Newsletter

Greetings from the South

The Lodge held the Annual Masons at Work Picnic on June 10th at the Midvale Bowery. Attendance was very good we had the pleasure of spending time with right around 79 adults and 7 younger children, R.W. Moore, Bethel 16 and Bethel 5 were all well represented.

Three legged races, tug o war, sack races and bocce ball were opening acts for the main events of bingo and mush ball. The results of the mush ball competition was the Master Counselor and the Honor Queen working together to present the Mush Ball annual trophy to the Worshipful Master for the first year. Way to go teams, everyone played hard and had fun. Although I think the lodge better watch out next year. The young folks want that trophy!

I want to thank everyone who helped make this picnic a success for us. This includes our Stewards, who did the majority of the cooking, Dave Birch’s son Steve (who sacrificed his goatee to our cause and learned a good safety lesson about mixing gel and liquid starter fluids) and all those who either donated prizes or helped to set up, clean up and keep activities flowing.

As noted in our last Lodge meeting we will be renovating sections of the Lodge room while we are dark. We are planning at least one full day that will include a lunch for all those helping to improve the building. Information will be sent out later.

Greetings from the South

Brethren,

Greetings to you all; we have started a great year and are looking forward to some good, quality social time together.

First up will be our Annual Lodge Birthday Party on March 10th, 2007.
Where? The Midvale Masonic Temple.
What time? 6:00 PM until ?
We will be serving a hot dog bar with recipes and condiments that will give you the chance to create your own special dog.

There will be a select number of Chicago Dogs on a first come first serve basis. Recipes will be available to make the following dogs:
Pitchfork
Chili
Chili Cheese
Bacon Chili Cheese
Classic
Pushcart
Matador

We are asking all attending brethren to make a cake (home made or from a box, your choice) and have a young person under 18 help you decorate it. Your creation will then be auctioned off by our own Brother Michael Hartman who has agreed to be our auctioneer for the evening.

The cost is $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for children 10 and under. Please let me know if you plan on attending. You can send me an e-mail by clicking on contact us and going to the JR Warden link, or you can call me at home. My number is in the members directory.

On June 10th we will be having our Masons at work picnic at the Midvale Bowery. Anyone interested in helping with this, please contact me. I am looking forward to our Annual softball game with R. W. Moore Demolay (we only lost by one run last year!), Fun with the families and guests.

On November 11th we will be holding our Annual Veteran’s day breakfast at the Midvale Masonic Temple.

More information will follow on these events as we get closer to the dates.

I would invite your comments on the following ideas:
Dinner and then a play at Sugar Factory Playhouse
Dinner and Play at Desert Star Playhouse
Breakfast at Denney’s Restaurant (Brethren only)

Don’t forget we meet at the Bohemian for dinner prior to lodge on the first Monday of the month at 6:00PM and that there will be Lodge Planning meetings with a pot luck once a month.

The Lodge planning meeting is open to all Brethren, while that is going on our significant others (those who give us permission to enjoy our fellowship) will have an opportunity to spend time together. After which we will be having a pot luck dinner.

Fraternally,
